I bought some of these £15 on-ear Bluetooth headphones. They’re surprisingly good and will be a welcome addition to the junk I carry everywhere.
Battery is great, range is excellent, they fold up and the audio quality is plenty good enough for my pleb ears.
However, they have offensively bright LEDs in the rim.
Invisible to the wearer, they broadcast your battery warnings, incoming calls and other such stuff to the world. Not something I’m looking for in headwear.
To disable the LEDs, I just desoldered them.
Now, that’s a neighbourly PCB.
I’ve put these headphones back together and they’re working great. But, if you were so inclined to investigate further then a good place to start might be https://github.com/lorf/csr-spi-ftdi
